TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - Players for the Tucson Sugar Skulls took time away from tackling and scoring touchdowns to visit with children at Diamond Children’s Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
More than a dozen members of Southern Arizona's only professional Arena Football team took pictures and signed autographs as they walked the halls. Some even 'gowning up' to hangout and spend time with the hospital's most vulnerable kids.
"You know just to help the kids out and give back, give our time to them, make them feel like we appreciate them, because we do," said Jeremiah Harris, WR for the Sugar Skulls.
There were a lot of smiles and laughs exchanged this afternoon, something players say they love about their job.
"It's always good to let them know they are not fighting alone, you know they always got somebody in their corner," said Malik Sims, DB for the Sugar Skulls. "Thats always good..."
The team spent a couple of hours at the hospital.
The Sugar Skulls next home game is May 25 against Phoenix’s AFL team, the Arizona Rattlers.
