Celebrities Who’ve Been Married More Than Once
We Count the Number of Times These 10 Hollywood Stars Have Tied the Knot
Pour one out for the sanctity of marriage because people just don’t get hitched like they used to.
When our grandparents were growing up, you’d marry your junior high school sweetheart at 17 and literally never look at another woman for decades before dying hand-in-hand together at the ripe age of 98. And now? Well, maybe you know someone that knows someone still soaking up that everlasting love, but not in Hollywood, baby!
RELATED: Celebrities Who Have Embraced the Single Life to the Fullest
We’ve seen the celebs who’ve managed to keep their marriages alive for decades, but now it’s time to take a look at the other side. These are the actors and actresses who go through spouses like Kleenex during flu season.
Here are 10 celebrities who’ve been married way more times than you.
1. Larry King - Eight Marriages
Man, who’d have thought a man with such a flagrant suspender fetish could have married seven women a grand total of eight times! That’s Larry f*cking King, baby! Or, that was Larry f*cking King… RIP.
His first marriage was to his high school sweetheart, Freda Miller, at age 19 — a marriage annulled by his parents — followed by some sweet holy matrimony with Annette Kay almost a decade later. Kay gave birth to Larry’s son, Larry Jr., who didn’t meet his father until he was in his thirties. Followed shortly after was a marriage to Playboy bunny, Alene Akins, in 1961 and again in 1967, Larry kept on the matrimonial movement until his last marriage to Shawn Southwick in 1997.
2. Kim Kardashian West - Three Marriages
It’s safe to say that Kim may not end up in the “third time’s a charm” club like Kate Winslet, but blame it on the pressure of the biz. The businesswoman with the very large behind began her wild life of weddings with a four-year marriage to music producer Damon Thomas, followed by a walk down the aisle with NBA star Kris Humphries (to which she asked for a divorce from just a mere 72 days later), and finally Kanye.
3. Billy Bob Thornton - Six Marriages
It’s really unfortunate that we know so much about the sex life of someone like Billy Bob Thornton. Not that we have anything against the actor and apparent singer, but we know we can’t be the only ones who can’t get that interview with Thornton and then-wife Angelina Jolie out of our heads. Including Jolie, Billy Bob has been married to six women altogether: Melissa Lee Gatlin, Toni Lawrence, Cynda Williams, Pietra Dawn Cherniak, and current wife Connie Angland. Hey, maybe he’s got a lot to work with below the belt?
4. Nic Cage – Five Marriages
You can’t keep Nic in a cage (sorry). Anyway, with five marriages under his belt (his first being to the wonderful and talented Patricia Arquette), Cage has betrothed himself to everyone from a waitress at an L.A. restaurant (Alice Kim) to the daughter of a small-time singer named Elvis, Lisa Marie Presley. Fun fact: the Face/Off star’s shortest marriage was with makeup artist Erika Koike and lasted only four days before Cage filed for an annulment.
5. James Cameron – Five Marriages
You gotta hand it to Cameron — the guy’s got more marriages than he’s got movies. The Titanic director’s nuptials span decades, beginning with Sharon Williams from 1978 - 1984, followed by Gale Anne Hurd from ‘85 - ‘89. She preceded Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow, the Terminator exterminator herself Linda Hamilton from 1989 to 1991, and finally environmental advocate, Suzy Amis in 2000. If you were waiting for an exquisite “My Heart Will Go On” joke, go build yourself a time machine and head back to 1997. Bring a jacket.
6. Ryan Reynolds – Two Marriages
Not every celebrity’s divorce has to be their fifth or sixth. Some of them get married twice like normal people. That’s Ryan Reynolds’s deal, at least. Before marrying Blake Lively in 2012, the Deadpool actor, gin advocate, and objectively nice guy spent the years 2008 to 2010 shacked up with — audible gasp — Scarlett Johansson.
7. Mickey Rooney – Eight Marriages
Mickey Rooney led a truly blessed (cursed? Blursed?) life, making the unprecedented leap from child actor to a child-sized adult actor. Rooney’s assumedly normal-sized book, Life Is Short, details a first marriage to Hollywood actress Ava Gardner in 1942, which quickly ended because of Rooney’s addiction to gambling and cheating on his wife. Of his ensuing marriages, it’s undoubtedly his marriage to Marge Lane which famously lasted just 100 days. The story goes that Marge and Mickey turned to each other after the death of a mutual friend and ran off to Vegas to get hitched.
8. Gary Oldman – Five Marriages
Known for his prolific acting range, as well as a whirlwind guest starring role on the show Friends, actor Gary Oldman sure knows how to pick ‘em. Actress Lesley Manville claims the first ex-wife spot in a short-lived marriage from 1987 to 1990 directly followed by none other than Uma Thurman for a few years in the ‘90s. Olman’s 1997 marriage to then-aspiring actress/model Donya Fiorentino in 1997 lasted only four years before ending, giving the final spot to Alexandra Edenborough. That one, well, it ended in divorce, too.
9. Jennifer Aniston – Two Marriages
Before becoming our favorite famously-single celebrity, Jennifer Aniston was married less than a full hand’s worth of times. We all know how the first go-around with Brad Pitt ended, but some forget that the actress formerly known as Rachel Green briefly married regulation hottie Justin Theroux. Alas, the two went on a break in 2018, but it seems their time apart might be permanent. Pity.
10. Tom Cruise – Three Marriages
Tom Cruise is a true celebrity: publicly bananas, “secretly” short, and often married. Cruise’s first marriage to actress Mimi Rogers spanned three years from 1987 to 1990, a record that was quickly broken when Cruise wed Nicole Kidman in 1990. The two spent 11 years together before their breakup in 2001, followed by his Xenu-sanctioned marriage to Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012. Love is a crazy thing; one minute you’re jumping on a couch in excitement, the next you’re getting a sack of thetan removed from your blood with an AM radio.
